Hey Sunshines, The DBS Marina Regatta 2017 Is Back

Posted on May 27, 2017 by dimpi

Bigger And Better.

Yes, in the background is the well-acclaimed main highlight for this year's Marina Regatta — the Battle Bay! And if you think you can be the fastest to beat the obstacles, then you can stand to win up to SGD 8000 in cash and an all-expenses-paid trip to Beijing.

All For Charity

What you have to do is simply to register your interest and navigate your way through Singapore's largest inflatable water obstacle course with 9 challenges over 11,000 square feet. And if you are the fastest, the prize will be yours!
Charges are SGD10 per try and SGD5 for students. all proceeds go towards supporting underprivileged students from Student Care Services.

Zoom and off you go!

Play Dome

Standing at 9meters tall, the Play Dome is the place to be from Day to Night.
It's definitely more fun with friends!

Since it was pouring, I had my own piece of fun lounging on the beach chairs inside the Play Dome.

The Play Dome is also the venue whereby you can enjoy FREE curated fitness classes by Yoga+, WeBarre and Eat Train Love. Register now because seats are running out!

Enjoy Delicious Burgers

We had the DBS Regatta Cocktails by Potato Head. Also look out for their signature uber fresh coconut cocktails and beers.

Don't forget to grab your Three Bun's gourmet burgers which complement nicely with your drinks!

Giant Games

See your childhood games turned Gaint-sized with the Gaint Jenga or Gaint Pick-Up-Sticks just like them! Organised by Society Staples whose founders seek to build a more inclusive society having both siblings with developmental disabilities.

Bay Beach

I think I was the only crazy one who took photos outside the pouring rain and big puddles on the media preview day.
It could have made for pretty pictures otherwise.
Nonetheless, I am positive that on 1 to 4 June of the actual festival, the weather will be bright and sunny for you guys when you head down.

This was how the urban pop-up beach was to look like.
Spaning 21,000 square feet, it is Southeast Asia's largest ever! Doubling the size of last year's Marina Regatta's beach and is 1.5 the size of Olympic pools.
It will look so pretty with the sunlight and all and I know you will want to be there to take some great OOTDs.

Bay Eats

Weave through award-winning food stalls at the food village from new eateries such as Labyrinth, Fench eatery Garcons, The BellJar and Leng Leng Ice cream and more.

Mark Your Calendars!

Come experience other regional ‘firsts’ that event-goers from the upcoming regatta and other highlights such as dragon boating and sailing events

SHOP OVERSEAS HASSLE-FREE WITH EZBUY

Posted on May 16, 2017 by dimpi

Shopping Spree is Back!

And.. this time round I managed to dig some treasures via ezbuy's hassle-free Taobao shopping. Taobao is China's famous mega online shopping portal with billions of transactions turnover daily. A heaven really, whereby shoppers can get some very lucrative deals at wholesale prices from Taobao's countless sellers.
With a limited budget, I wanted to challenge myself to shop for the most, and of course, useful items that I can purchase with SGD$50.

* I also have a $10 shopping voucher for you right at the end of the post*
Curious to find out what I managed to score?

Here’s the Lowdown!

I was yearning for another backpack apart from my trusty Anello pack. A pack more suitable for work and wouldn’t make me look to improper, yet stylish and classy. One that is not too small and yet can contain my essentials like a water bottle, wallet, makeup pouch etc.
In general, on ezbuy’s web portal, you can simply head to the ‘Shoes Bags and Accessories’ category and look under the specific types of bags you are looking for.
 Easy.

After much selection and scanning through numerous reviews from other buyers on Taobao, I managed to score this lovely vintage backpack and was really amazed by the quality of the product.  It came as a surprise really. The material was sturdy with a beautiful vinyl finishing.  Interior wise, it came true to pictures, with lots of internal compartments and zips.
Came in large and small size. For the smaller version, there are 2 carrying methods — as a backpack or a handbag (as shown below). It was good and smart-looking enough for the price !

Shop Here:

Wave Unexpected Shipping Fees Goodbye

All fees will be listed prior to check out and you choose to buy only when you are comfortable with the fees.

Service Promise

Of course, it might be harder to shop around if you do not understand Chinese characters on China shopping portals such as Taobao, TMall.com etc, but online shopping overseas has been made easy with English translation. Simply paste the URL of your favourite products from the Chinese portals onto ezbuy website and a translation will be made.
ezbuy provides an extensive range of value-added service to all Taobao shoppers, from saving the hassle in communication with the Chinese vendors, providing a peace of mind with ezbuy’s inspection service to ensuring products are correct and non-defective with aftersales support.

***
Here are the other products I bought and their links if you are keen:

A casual top for everyday wear. The blouse was inexpensive and material was of acceptable cotton quality.

These pretty earrings could set you back at SGD 12 or more in retail but with ezbuy, it was way cheaper at less than a fraction of the retail price.

I also bought this knee-length knit sweater which was fairly thick of good quality and will be good for visiting countries in cooler seasons.  Link in Taobao

Mark Down Your Calendars!

Mega sales are happening soon on 5th June, 65eday, Look Out for ezbuy's facebook and website for updates.

Check out ezbuy Prime service where you can enjoy unlimited shipping at only $2.99 >> link to https://ezbuy.sg/Prime

Just a side note: It was my first time purchasing from the ezbuy Mobile app and I found it much easier to be in control of my orders. Selecting, adding to cart and checking out was very smooth. An added advantage will be the instant notifications from sellers and subsequently, the dispatch and shipping status etc.
The mobile app version makes surfing and consolidating your orders much easier and I will recommend you to try out the mobile app version.

CALDECOTT HILL OPENS TO THE PUBLIC AT SINGAPORE HERITAGE FESTIVAL 2017

Posted on May 04, 2017 by dimpi

Hello Caldecott.

The Singapore Heritage Festival 2017 brings us back to the roots in exploring different hidden gems of Singapore. In particular, "Hello Caldecott" caught our eyes from the list of programs. Well, Caldecott Hill was the former premises of Mediacorp — Singapore's television (TV) and radio broadcast station — which has shifted to Mediapolis @one-north. And to celebrate 50 years of TV production, visitors at the festival will get to experience TV production, free guided tours ( which we missed, unfortunately. Suggest you head for it. 630pm on Friday and Saturday and 1030am on Sunday), exhibitions, performances, live bands, screenings and so much more. There are also many acting many acting props that you can play along with too.

Theatre Performance

We caught Studio 6, the song and dance performance by theatre company Sweet Tooth by Cake and it was awesome! It lasted for 30-45 mins. Reenacting scenes from classic television productions from the TV productions over the years and spanning programs from different languages catering to our four diverse races, it was a joyous sing-a-long session.
If you love to catch up on the good old days, this is the performance to catch.
Highly recommended. You can still catch them this weekend.

Photo Opportunities

Here are some photo-pitstop at the open-house.

My ger and I had fun posing with the props!

Community Wall

More photo opportunities with the familiar sitcoms and variety shows which have accompanied us through our Growing Up years.

Old Mediacorp Reception

That's all I have for a quick post update. Head down to the festival this weekend for its final open house. Learn new facts about Singapore and have fun with your family and friends!
